KATHMANDU:

With the 62 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, the total caseload in Kathmandu Valley has reached 1,044. According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, Jageshwor Gautam, 56 people have been found infected with coronavirus in Kathmandu while three in Lalitpur and three in Bhaktapur in the last 24 hours in a test conducted at National Laboratory, Teku, Nepal Police Hospital, Maharajgunj, Star Hospital, Lalitpur, Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, Patan Hospital and Korea Nepal Friendship Hospital in Bhaktapur.

 

 

 

 

 

BAITADI:

The Puchaundi municipality and Dilasaini rural municipality in the district has imposed a ban on the consumption and marketing of alcohol. A decision to this end was taken by the alcohol control committee citing the various problems that alcoholism has invited to the society at large.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called for study and research on Ayodhyapuri, the birthplace of Hindu God Ram in Nepal. He made the call in a telephone conversation on Friday with the chairperson of ward no. 9 of Madi municipality, where Ayodhyapuri is located.

TU Exam Notice 2077: Postponed TU exam 2077 and competitive entrance examination for engineering and medical colleges are not likely to be conducted before Dashain 2077, as COVID-19 cases across the country have continued to hike again. Recently Tribhuwan University TU had decided to hold the previously postponed TU examinations from the third week of August. Previously TU Exam 2077 was postponed due to the disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic and following the decision of the Corona Prevention and Control High-Level Coordinating Committee.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on April 14 had decided to extend the nationwide lockdown till April 27. Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yubaraj Khatiwada said that the government has decided to extend the nationwide lockdown as the risk of the spread of COVID-19 pandemic was still high. Day by Day the positive cases are increasing two more people tested positive for COVID-19 on April 14, taking the total cases of infection to 16.

A boy has lost his life from an electric shock while fishing in Mukhiya River in Katari, Udaypur, yesterday morning.

Two staff of Kathmandu-based National Public Health Laboratory, which also carries out tests for dengue, have contracted the mosquito-borne disease, taking the number of dengue patients in the capital to more than 60.The two who contracted the disease are from Thankot and Kuleshwor and do not have a history of travelling to any dengue-hit area across the country, according to NPHL Director Runa Jha.

A sudden decision by the Chinese authorities to bar locals in Humla from entering Tibet, which thousands of residents in the district rely on for their livelihood, has prompted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to raise the issue with the Embassy of China in Kathmandu.Over the past two weeks, Chinese authorities have sent back around 470 locals from the border, according to the District Administration Office in Simikot. But a government official posted in Humla told the Post over the phone that around 2,500 Humla locals who had already obtained passes to enter Tibet had to suffer because of the Chinese decision. The official, also posted in the same district, spoke on condition of anonymity because he said he was not allowed to give the “real” figures.
